Lisa has lived in the current 16th District since she moved to Peoria County in 1990 to take a job as the County's Recycling Coordinator. In 2001 she moved to Harvard to open an office for The Nature Conservancy, and in 2002 she became the first full time executive director for The Land Conservancy of McHenry County, and has been there ever since. Lisa and her husband, Tom Cubr, celebrated their 35th anniversary this year.
Lisa considers herself an advocate - someone who speaks for those who may not have a voice of their own. Her advocacy has focused on natural resource conservation and speaking out about social issues at the national and local levels. Examples include:
Currently, Lisa serves as an Alderwoman in the City of Harvard as well as a member of the City Library Board. Before her election in 2019, Lisa served on the City's Zoning Board of Appeals and was a member of the land use planning committee.
